Gowan Smith
Director of Operations & Strategy
Gowan Smith is a Project Manager for Shaifer Companies, where he is responsible for tracking new development projects, managing deed and easement work, analyzing capital expenditures, and EPD compliance projects.
Gowan graduated Cum Laude from Auburn University with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and minor in Entrepreneurship and Family Business. He also holds a Class III Water Operator License.
Growing up in Savannah, GA, Gowan has deep roots in the area. With a strong background in project management and a clear understanding of the critical need for reliable drinking water solutions in rural communities, he is dedicated to advancing and promoting the Georgia Water Alliance’s mission throughout Georgia.
Katie Strickland
Director of Communications
Katie E. Strickland is an accomplished communications strategist and former journalist with more than 15 years of experience in public relations, brand development, and community engagement.
She currently serves as the Communications and Marketing Director for Shaifer Companies, leading integrated strategies for multiple Georgia-based brands, including Piedmont Water Company, Fortis Siteworks, Mainline Industrial Solutions, and Lake Oconee Ace Hardware.
Known for her integrity, creativity, and results-driven leadership, Katie has built award-winning marketing campaigns that strengthen public trust and organizational reputation.
